- Decorated Bronze and Silver Star-US government award- Gallantry metal
- Decorated with Service Metals in Canada
- Ontario metal of Good Citizenship-Highest Volunteerism award
- June 2008, Creation by the National Defense, Canadian Special Operations Regiment created the The Sgt. William Sam Magee Award which is presented to a NCM of the Regiment who exemplifies the spirit of a special operations supporter

William Sam Magee has provided twenty-five stories on the Oshawa Remembers site on his life experiences during WW 2 while serving with the First Special Service Force, a joint US and Canadian multi-skilled training group.

- Posted overseas Feb 1944 via Isle de France passenger ship to Bournmouth, UK
- Additional training in UK to combat ready, Advanced flying unit
- Flying experience with Sterlings, Lancasters bombers
- Nov 1944 Joined 90 Squadron a British Squadron, bomber command
- Stationed in East Anglia and did 35 ops, 21 daylight and 14 night trips
- Bombing raids throughout Germany, Frisian Islands, Denmark
- WW 2 ended on May 7th, 1945
- Discharged July 1945
- Government of Canada DVA sponsored sponsored training in business administration
- Settled back in Oshawa at General Motors worked 38 years

- Trained as history teacher in Port Perry High School
- Rose to the rank of Major
- Director of the Ontario Regimental Museum in Oshawa

P. A. Daniel, Sgt. Major
- July 24, 1925
- Enlisted in 1942 in Toronto
- Basic training in Orilla, Camp Borden and went overseas in 1943 oversea trip on the British luxury liner, SS Morianta, with a convoy
- Stationed at Aldershot, UK, East Calvary Barracks, ( built for Crimea War)
- Trained as wireless operator
- Arrived in Nov 1944 in France and Belgium assigned to reinforcement unit, 2nd armour brigade, assigned 1st Hussars
- Radio operator in Sherman 74mm tank, provided the daily codes for communication between tanks
- Post WW 2 returned to Canada, work on Alaska Highway, Calgary, Churchill Falls,
- 1952-3 South Korea with the Strathcona Troop, 6 weeks on line, out for two weeks
- Oshawa for 3 years with Ontario Regiment
- 1959-62 Germany with NATO in Germany
- 1963-64, Egypt peacekeeping force
- 1964-67 Owen sounds posting
- 1969- 71 Gagetown with RCD’s
- 1971-75 Retirement in Oshawa
- 1975 Oshawa Militia, Supplementary reserve
